LAGOM BED

Some designs are inspired by form. Lagom was inspired by a way of life.
The Swedish philosophy of lagom is about balance – not too much, not too little, but exactly what is
needed. Good design is rarely about adding more. More often, it is the art of knowing what to leave out.
This philosophy became the foundation of the project, where soft layers, balanced proportions and the
freedom to combine materials create a bed capable of telling a different story every time.
A defining feature of the design is its layered construction. The name also refers to the Danish word lag,
meaning layer. Both the headboard and the bed frame are composed of gently overlapping surfaces,
creating a soft, flowing silhouette free from sharp edges. The removable front section of the headboard
not only simplifies servicing but also opens up new possibilities for product customization and future
collection development.
One of the project’s greatest strengths is the ability to combine two independent upholstery fabrics.
Manufacturers can create bold contrasts or subtle tonal compositions using materials with different
textures—from bouclé and chenille to velvet, wool blends or linen. As a result, a single design can evolve
into multiple collections, appealing to both expressive and understated design directions.
Lagom does not belong to a single style. Changing the combination of fabrics and colours completely
transforms its character. In natural textiles it feels calm and organic; in contrasting combinations it
becomes bold and expressive; in monochromatic palettes it highlights the architectural purity of its form.
This versatility allows the design to integrate effortlessly into collections inspired by Japandi,
Scandinavian, Soft Minimalism and Contemporary interiors.
Lagom demonstrates that well-designed furniture should never be limited to a single version. Instead, it
becomes a platform for creating entire product families, giving manufacturers the freedom to build their
own identity through colour, material and detail.
